Belgian Ports - COVID-19 Vaccination for Foreign Crew available as from 26th July 2021


The Belgian Health and Transport Authorities together with the local Shipping Associations have made it possible to vaccinate foreign crewmembers on board of seagoing vessel in Belgian ports. First vaccinations will take place as from 26th of July 2021.


Vaccinations will take place on board of the vessel and can be done with a minimum of 5 crewmembers. In case of less than 5 crewmembers this needs to be done at a medical centre.






The campaign is applicable to Seafarers, of all nationalities serving on board any type or category of seagoing ship calling in the ports of Antwerp, Ghent or Zeebrugge, who have not yet received a doses of an European Medicines Agency (EMA) approved COVID‐19 vaccine in the last 12 months.

Any application shall be made at least 48 hours prior expected arrival at berth of the vessel.


Important notes:

- A vaccination can be requested, but cannot be claimed. Vaccination team will do the utmost to honor applications, but without any guarantee.

- Vaccination shall be on voluntary basis and give to the seafarer based on free will.

- Belgian authorities will cover the costs for the vaccines and provided free of charge.

Non-profit fee for administration and labour costs of vaccination team to be covered by shipowner.
